Traffic Chaos: Street Blockades in Belgrade and Student Arrests Spark Total Meltdown!

Belgrade is in chaos! Since July 3rd, tram lines 7L, 9L, and 12L have been running on altered routes due to persistent blockades on Yuri Gagarin Street near the Pyramid Shopping Center. Not only trams but also some bus lines are suffering because of blockades on main streets in Zemun. Instead of turning at their usual stops, trams now end their routes at the New Belgrade depot, turning daily commutes into a nightmare for passengers. All this turmoil is caused by small groups of students blocking faculties and roads, citing the arrests of several students suspected of planning a violent change to the constitutional order. The police reacted swiftly, removing blockades and detaining 79 people, 7 of whom are suspected of criminal offenses. Four police officers were injured, and one official vehicle was damaged. The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens to refrain from illegal activities that endanger the safety of all traffic participants. This situation has caused a total traffic meltdown and public outrage from those trapped in the blockades. Is this a fight for justice or just uncontrollable chaos? Jump into the conversation and tell us what you think about these protests and their fallout!
