All Streets in Belgrade Passable, Public Transport Running Normally Despite Protests

Belgrade on Its Feet, But Traffic Keeps Moving!

This morning, July 14th, Belgrade welcomed its citizens with all streets passable and public transport running on a normal schedule. Yes, you read that right – despite protests, traffic did not stop!

A protest by a group called the “Social Front” was held yesterday in front of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Veteran Affairs. They wanted to draw attention to what they claim is repression against workers. Nemanjina Street was blocked for about an hour, but this did not disrupt the morning commute of Belgraders.

The City Traffic Company (GSP) confirmed that all lines are operating normally, which is quite rare during protest days. While other cities often face complete blockades, Belgrade showed it can maintain order and calm in traffic.

Of course, not everything is rosy. The Public Utility Company “City Cleanliness” warned against unauthorized moving, opening, and burning of containers during protests, which directly endangers public health and safety. So, while some protest, others wonder – who will clean up the mess?

Meanwhile, amateur meteorologist Marko Čubrilo forecasts a gradual rise in temperature, still below average for this time of year, with very cool nights. So, Belgrade is ready for summer heat but also for protests that cannot stop city life.

While incidents occur on Nemanjina Street and the opposition announces new blockades, Belgrade has shown it can function even under such conditions. Is this a sign that protests have lost strength or just that the city is ready for anything? You decide!

If you ever wondered what a real blockade in Belgrade looks like, this morning you got the answer – almost none. Traffic flows, people go to work, and protests are just another news item in the daily flood of events.

So, what do you think? Are protests in Belgrade effective or just a waste of time? Drop a comment, share your story, or just crack a joke about blockades – this is the place for all that!
