Belgrade is in chaos again, and not because of some spectacular event, but due to a traffic nightmare that will last from July 10 to 21! Yes, you read that right — nine public transport lines are changing their routes due to construction works on the secondary water supply and sewage system at Zoran Đinđić Square and surrounding streets.
Imagine this — part of the Vojvođanska intersection, Zoran Đinđić Square, and Braće Puhalović Street will be occupied, and traffic will be closed in directions including left turns from New Belgrade towards Zoran Đinđić Square and from the Surčin terminus towards Dobanovci. Braće Puhalović Street towards the center of Surčin will be completely closed.
What does this mean for you? If you rely on public transport daily, get ready for changed routes and new stops. Vehicles will use existing and newly established stops, but traffic jams and delays are almost guaranteed.
While city authorities try to explain and announce everything, citizens are left wondering — why now? Why these locations? And how much will this chaos cost us in nerves and time?
To make matters worse, just a few days earlier, from July 14 to 16, there will be roadworks at Republic Square, where traffic will be closed in a wide zone, and nine public transport lines will also change routes. So, Belgrade is in a complete traffic meltdown!
This is not just a simple route change — it’s a test of patience for all of us who depend on public transport daily. Are you ready for the adventure called “Belgrade Traffic in July 2024”? If you have stories about your experiences with these changes, feel free to share — maybe together we can find a way to survive this chaos with a smile on our faces!
