Belgrade Without Water? Welcome to Savski Venac and Zvezdara!
Are you ready to be left without water just when you need it the most? The public utility company “Belgrade Waterworks and Sewerage” has decided to throw a real wrench into the works today and tomorrow in two city districts – Savski Venac and Zvezdara.
Who’s Getting Hit?
Today, July 8th, residents of Karađorđeva Street, Kamenička, Kraljevića Marka, Koče Popovića, Gavrila Principa, and nearby streets in Savski Venac will be without water until 6 PM. Why? Because a newly laid pipeline is being put into operation.
Tomorrow, July 9th, the same story, but in Zvezdara. Streets Bojvode Brane No. 1, part of Dalmatinska, Ruzveltova, and Mraovića alleys will be without water until 6 PM due to planned works on the water supply network.
What About Basic Needs?
Of course, the most essential needs for drinking water will be covered by water tankers. But is that enough? The recommendation is for all consumers to prepare an adequate supply of water for drinking and basic needs.
Why Now?
The works are necessary for maintenance and improvement of the water network, but is now, in the middle of summer and heat, really the best time for such measures? Many wonder if this is just another way to drive citizens crazy.
Is This Normal?
Such situations are not rare in Belgrade, but every time they happen, citizens ask – where is the planning? Why not do the work at night or during periods of lower water consumption?
