Bosnia and Herzegovina is on the brink of a new political shake-up, and the Serb member of the Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, is not holding back: the country needs a big reset! But this isn’t just empty talk — she claims that in Sarajevo, they are not used to real dialogue. Instead, local politicians wait for foreigners to hand them ready-made solutions, while the interests of Serbs and Republika Srpska are pushed aside.
And what about Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska? He says RS has friends who will help make their views heard, especially in defending the Dayton Agreement. Dodik specifically highlighted the administration of Donald Trump as an ally, and one of the friends, Rod Blagojević, recently visited RS to get to know the country and its people.
So, while Cvijanović calls for dialogue and a reset, Dodik relies on international allies to protect RS’s interests. All this while Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to tread water, and the three peoples fail to find common ground.
This situation is a perfect recipe for political instability. Will BiH finally get the dialogue it needs, or will it keep spinning in a vicious circle? Until that’s resolved, we’re left watching political games played on our backs.
