Blockade War in Serbia: Who’s to Blame for the Street Chaos?

Blockades in Serbia have turned into a never-ending drama! While the police tirelessly check identities and file misdemeanor charges, students continue to hold faculties hostage, and the authorities and universities pretend nothing is happening. In one night, the police checked the identities of hundreds of people and filed three misdemeanor charges, while all road blockades in Belgrade were removed. But is this the end of the chaos? Not at all!

At the faculties, despite the decision of the academic councils to make up for lost classes, the most radical blockers continue to call for boycotts and maintaining blockades. Professor Čedomir Antić from the Faculty of Philosophy says most departments will manage to catch up on classes, but students will have only one month for six exam sessions! Is that realistic? Of course not!

Professor Vladimir Vuletić warns that the blockades have no purpose and that persisting in them will only lead to even greater anarchy. On the other hand, Srđan Barać from the Center for Social Stability believes that extreme forms of protest will become dominant, as the number of blockade participants decreases and methods become more dangerous.

The police and prosecution have been called to respond to attacks on property, but the question is how much that will help when it seems no one controls the situation. While the streets of Belgrade return to normal, students do not give up, and the authorities and universities pretend everything is under control.

If you think this is the end, you are wrong. This saga of blockades and chaos on the streets of Serbia is just beginning. What do you think? Are the students right, or is it time to put an end to this madness? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s on whose side in this chaos!
