Blockaders in Belgrade: Father Trapped with Kids, Patriotism Put to the Test!

Belgrade has turned into a battlefield for ordinary people, and the blockaders are the main culprits! On Liberation Boulevard, near the Veterinary Faculty, a father with his children was stopped because the blockaders mercilessly blocked the way. Instead of understanding, he got a lesson in patriotism — but not the one you’d expect. “Shame on you! Why do you hate your own country?” asked the desperate father, telling his kids that people like this should not be their role models. This scene is more than just a traffic blockade; it’s a mirror of a society that is divided and losing its way.

Blockades that once symbolized protest have now become a nightmare for many Belgraders. People with children, the elderly, emergency services — no one is spared. And what about patriotism? The father clearly said that although he has a son the same age as some of the blockaders, he would never turn his back on his country. Yet, the blockaders seem blind to anything beyond their own noses, trapped in their own hatred and anger.

This situation is not just a local problem. It shows how divided society is and how ready people are to endanger others because of their beliefs. While Belgrade chokes on blockades, children watch and learn — but what? That patriotism means fighting against your own fellow citizens? That violence is the only way to express dissatisfaction? This is a wake-up call for all of us to ask where we are headed as a society.

If you thought blockades were just an annoying traffic obstacle, think again. They have become a symbol of chaos and discord. And while some fight for their rights, others pay the price — children, families, ordinary people. Maybe it’s time for all of us to stop and ask: who is the real patriot? The one blocking the city or the one trying to live in it?

So, what do you think? Is patriotism today just an empty word or something that should unite us? Or are we already too divided to understand that? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just have a laugh — because sometimes laughter is all we have left in this madness.
