Border Hell in Serbia: Queues, Delays, and Chaos at Preševo and Horgoš

Welcome to the Serbian border hell! If you thought border queues were just a myth, it’s time to face the brutal reality. At the border crossings of Preševo, Horgoš, Gradina, and Sremska Rača, passenger vehicles are waiting up to an hour and a half, while buses at Horgoš suffer delays of up to 45 minutes. All this because of the infamous “one stop” integrated border crossing between Serbia and North Macedonia, officially launched but causing total chaos!

Imagine this: 70 minutes waiting to exit the country at Preševo, 60 minutes to enter, and at Horgoš passenger vehicles wait an hour, while buses endure 45 minutes. And that’s not all! Freight vehicles at Batrovci wait an hour, and the same at Šid. All this while tourists are already rushing to their vacations, and the holiday season is in full swing.

Why? The system at the Preševo-Tabanovce border crossing crashed, and North Macedonia temporarily suspended vehicle entry due to a Ministry of Interior system failure. The result? Total chaos, kilometer-long queues, and nervous drivers who don’t know where to go.

While authorities try to fix the problem, the advice is clear: avoid highways and don’t speed on local roads to “make up” time, because speeding can be costly and dangerous.

Montenegro is also experiencing road chaos, and Greece has tripled its tourist taxes! Tourists are panicking, and border queues only complicate the situation further.

If you planned a vacation, get ready for waiting, stress, and maybe wondering if it was worth it. And if you have a funny border story, feel free to share it — maybe we all need a laugh in this mess!
