Brnabić on Memorial Centers and Fascism: European Commission Just Bluffing!

When Prime Minister Brnabić announces that Serbia will not allow the crimes against Serbs, Jews, and Roma in Jasenovac and Donja Gradina to be forgotten, and that memorial centers with educational and research parts will be built, you expect a serious story. But no, Brnabić doesn’t spare the European Commission either, accusing them of making their condemnation of fascism at Marko Perković Thompson’s concert in Zagreb just a political platitude, without a real stance! “It’s not condemnation, it’s a political platitude!” says the Prime Minister. Who’s crazy here? Is the European Commission really just bluffing while condemning fascism? Brnabić clearly states that Serbia will not stop until it gets a clear value-based statement on this event.

But that’s not all! The Prime Minister just finished an official visit to Israel, where she discussed with the country’s president, foreign minister, and Knesset speaker about improving cooperation. All this while Serbia and the region continue to struggle with dangerous historical revisionism and rising antisemitism.

This is a story about how Serbia wants to confront the darkest periods of its history, but also about how international institutions often remain at the level of empty words. If you think this is just another political story, think again. This is a fight for truth, memory, and the future. So, what do you think? Is the European Commission really just bluffing, or is this the start of something bigger? Drop a comment, let the people’s voice be heard!
