Each one is busy because Čačak locals don’t shy away from hot roast even when the thermometer hits 40 degrees. Radojko Janković, a loyal customer, says: “Here, you can eat roast for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, whether it’s 20 or 40 degrees – it doesn’t matter! For 600 dinars, I eat like a king!”

To satisfy the appetite of their faithful guests, roasting masters work around the clock, tending the ovens to prepare delicious roasted pork or lamb. Nemanja Smiljanić from the Ježevica roastery reveals that the key to perfect roast is young, fresh meat, a crispy crust, good salt, and of course, the roast must be served hot – never cold from the day before.
Price? One kilogram of pork roast costs about 1200 dinars, while lamb roast goes for around 2000 dinars, which might be a bit pricier than in other cities, but the quality and taste are unmatched.
