Cancellation of Decisions on Urban Planning in Kolašin

The Government of Montenegro has made decisions to cancel previous decisions related to the preparation of amendments and supplements to the detailed urban plans (DUP) in the center of Kolašin, as well as the appointment of a leader for the preparation of these planning documents. The preparation of the DUP will henceforth be the responsibility of a newly formed local agency for spatial design and planning. The decisions were made due to the failure to achieve the goals of the previous plan, including the protection and reconstruction of old buildings, raising the level of urbanity, and rational use of space. The local authorities aim to reduce construction pressure in the city center and improve the quality of life for residents. The opposition and the Green Kolašin initiative had previously proposed the cancellation of the old plans.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning reports emphasize the failure of previous urban plans to protect the environment and heritage, highlighting the need for sustainable and community-focused urban development. They support the move to a local agency as a step towards more democratic and environmentally conscious planning.

Center: Center-leaning coverage presents the government’s decision as a pragmatic response to the ineffective implementation of previous plans. It focuses on administrative changes and the goal of improving urban quality and living standards without strong ideological framing.

Right: Right-leaning narratives may stress the importance of efficient governance and local autonomy in urban planning. They might highlight the need to reduce bureaucratic delays and promote development while maintaining order, possibly downplaying environmental or heritage concerns.
