Cattle Price Madness in Serbia: Piglets Soar, Lambs Drop, and Fattening Bulls Confuse Everyone!

Welcome to the cattle price circus in Serbia, where piglets are soaring, lambs are dropping, and fattening bulls are confusing everyone! The South Banat region has seen a rise in purchase prices for piglets weighing 16 to 25 kilograms, while fattening pigs weighing 80 kilograms are selling at record prices. But what about the lambs? Their prices are falling sharply, even down to 370 dinars per kilogram, baffling everyone at the market.

In the Šumadija region, Simmental breed calves are reaching maximum prices, while the price for fattening cattle over 250 kilograms is lower. The South Banat region is experiencing a drop in prices for fattening cattle, while in the Central Banat region, fattening pigs are selling for higher prices than before. At the livestock market in Kragujevac, lamb prices have risen, but in Loznica and the Mačva region, prices are falling.

Purchase prices for sows for slaughter have increased in the Šumadija region, while piglets in Loznica are cheaper. The supply of lambs is weak, further complicating the situation. Overall, the livestock market in Serbia is chaotic, with prices jumping up and down without clear rules.

Is this a sign that farmers should prepare for even bigger turbulence? Or is it time for all of us to ask who is really profiting here? If you have your own opinion or have already lost your mind following these prices, feel free to drop a comment. Let the madness continue!
