Zagreb police have determined that the fire at the bulky waste landfill in Jakuševac most likely started due to spontaneous combustion. The fire broke out on Sunday, and about ten fire trucks quickly responded and brought the fire under control. The fire was detected in time by thermal cameras, preventing its spread to other parts of the site. Forty-five firefighters participated in extinguishing the fire, and material damage has not yet been assessed.
Political Perspectives:
Left: Left-leaning outlets focus on the environmental impact of the fire and the need for better waste management policies. They emphasize the risks posed by improper waste disposal and call for increased government oversight and investment in sustainable waste solutions.
Center: Centrist sources report the facts of the fire incident, highlighting the quick response of firefighters and the investigation results pointing to spontaneous combustion. They provide balanced coverage without much political commentary, focusing on public safety and ongoing assessments of damage.
Right: Right-leaning media emphasize the efficiency and promptness of emergency services in controlling the fire. They may also highlight the responsibility of citizens in proper waste disposal and caution against overregulation, stressing individual accountability and local government efforts.
