Winter is Coming, and So Are Higher Heating Prices!
If you thought summer was a break from worrying about heating, think again! Fuel sellers in Serbia are already raising prices, and winter 2025 could cost us up to 10% more than last year. A cubic meter of wood currently costs about 6,000 dinars, a ton of pellets between 26,000 and 32,000 dinars, and coal ranges from 16,000 to 30,000 dinars per ton. But don’t be fooled — these prices aren’t set in stone!
Why the price hike?
Sellers warn that autumn will bring price jumps due to increased demand. Smart buyers are already stocking up because buying in summer can save money. Beech wood costs around 60 euros per cubic meter, and oak can go up to 65 euros. In smaller towns, wood can be found cheaper, but you’ll have to arrange transport yourself.
Quality and timing are key!
Experienced sellers advise buying wood at the end of spring or early summer so it can dry properly. Buying in autumn or later means the wood won’t be dry enough and won’t heat well. Pellet prices are currently similar to last year’s but may change. Pellet prices vary from 26,000 to 32,000 dinars per ton, and in spring and summer, they can be 2-3 thousand dinars cheaper.
What’s ahead?
If you don’t want to be caught off guard by a cold winter with expensive fuel, now is the time to think about buying. Don’t let autumn surprise you with higher prices and poor-quality wood. Smart buyers buy early, and the rest… well, let them freeze and pay more!
