Four Schools Awarded Model Institution Status for Inclusive Education in Serbia

Looks like Serbia is finally stepping up its game in inclusive education! Four primary schools – 8. oktobar from Vlasotince, Sveti Sava from Vrčin, Kosta Trifković from Novi Sad, and Jovan Jovanović Zmaj from Svilajnac – have been awarded the prestigious status of model institutions for inclusive education. What does that mean? These schools have shown outstanding results working with children with special needs, use innovative teaching methods, and serve as shining examples for the entire Serbian education system. The Ministry of Education made it clear that these schools are not just rewarded but are tasked with sharing their successful practices with other schools to help improve teaching quality. The goal is clear: provide quality education for all children equally and reduce exclusion from the education system. The Ministry is not stopping there – it is developing a system of professional training and horizontal exchange of experiences among schools. The model institution status is a new mechanism to connect schools and teachers in the fight for better education. Will this be a revolution or just another bureaucratic buzzword? Time will tell. But one thing is certain – if you want to see how inclusive education can work, these four schools are the places to watch. So, what do you think? Is inclusive education in Serbia on the right track, or is this just another empty promise? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s on which side!
