Tonight, Serbia’s roads are in total chaos! The public company “Putevi Srbije” announced that traffic on the M11 motorway, between the Mostar and Sava Center interchanges, is completely stopped in both directions. Why? Small groups of students have decided to block intersections and major roads in Belgrade and other cities across Serbia. The Gazela Bridge, one of Belgrade’s most important bridges, was blocked, and international road routes came to a halt. It all started on June 29, and the blockades have continued in the following days, causing total traffic collapse.
Public transport in Belgrade is running normally this morning, but traffic jams and delays remain a huge problem due to the previous blockades. Students and citizens supporting them claim they are protesting the detention of several students suspected of planning a violent change of the constitutional order and supporting those arrested after the protests on June 28.
While authorities try to normalize traffic, citizens wonder how long this traffic chaos will last and if normal life will ever return to Serbia’s roads. Are the students heroes fighting for justice or just troublemakers choking the cities? Drop a comment and tell us what you think about these blockades that have paralyzed Serbia!
