China’s Anti Fascist Victory and Montenegrin Friendship: Heroes of the Past, Challenges of Today

China’s Anti-Fascist Victory: Heroes the World Must Never Forget!

On July 10th, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Montenegro held a grand reception to commemorate the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, a crucial part of the World Anti-Fascist War. The event also marked the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Chargé d’Affaires Lu Fanqing reminded attendees that eighty years ago, the just forces of the world stood united to defeat fascism, preserving human dignity and international peace. China, having suffered enormous sacrifices with 35 million soldiers and civilians killed or wounded, was the main battlefield in the East, providing the earliest and longest resistance against Japanese fascism, significantly contributing to the victory in World War II.

Special recognition was given to the support from anti-fascist fighters worldwide, including North Korea, New Zealand, Romania, Bulgaria, as well as the American volunteer group known as the Flying Tigers, and medical workers from Canada and India.

The Chinese people also recognize the strong anti-fascist spirit of Montenegro. The film “The Bridge on the Đurđevića Tara” deeply touched the Chinese public, creating a bridge of friendship between the two nations.

Military attaché Cao Jiafeng spoke about the founding of the People’s Liberation Army of China and emphasized its commitment to modernization and safeguarding sovereignty, especially regarding Taiwan, stressing that China will never promise to renounce the use of force against separatist forces.

Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister Budimir Aleksić highlighted the importance of the victory over fascism for the modern international order based on anti-fascism, justice, and respect for human rights. Montenegro remains strongly committed to these values, which form the foundation of its identity and statehood.

Aleksić praised China’s global security initiative and emphasized the significance of cooperation between Montenegro and China, evident in infrastructure projects like highways and the Pelješac Bridge, as well as in education, science, and innovation.

Why does this matter?

This event is not just a historical celebration but a powerful message that justice ultimately triumphs over evil, and light overcomes darkness. In times of global tensions and challenges, remembering the anti-fascist struggle and the unity of peoples worldwide remains a beacon of truth and peace.

Now, think about it: Are we respecting these values enough today? Or have we forgotten how important unity is? If you have thoughts or a good joke about this, drop a comment — let’s keep the conversation lively and smart!
