What a drama in the world of Formula 1! Christian Horner, the man who was the brain and heart of Red Bull’s F1 team for 20 years, has been suddenly fired. Yes, you read that right – after two decades leading one of the most successful teams in history, Horner got the boot. But that’s not the end of the story – behind the scenes lies a real tragedy and scandal that shook not only his family but the entire F1 community.
Just about ten days ago, Horner’s first wife, Beverley Allen, with whom he has a daughter, lost her battle with eye cancer. Beverley was a pillar of support in his early career days, and their relationship remained full of respect and friendship despite their divorce many years ago. Her death hit Horner like a bolt from the blue – he lost an old love and friend, and his daughter lost her mother.
But tragedy isn’t the only reason for his departure. Horner has been caught in a whirlwind of problems for the last 18 months. In February last year, a Red Bull employee accused him of inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment. Although the allegations were dismissed twice after investigations, the damage to his reputation and the team’s image was huge.

Analysts say Horner’s dismissal is the climax of long-standing conflicts within Red Bull, including tensions between Horner and the Verstappen family, especially Max’s father Jos. Also, the split ownership between the Austrian and Thai sides complicated the situation further.
All in all, this is the end of an era in Formula 1. Horner was key in building Red Bull from a small team into a global giant with eight driver and six constructor titles. But, as often happens in sports, power and success come with a price.
