City Sanitation Slams Student Protests: Belgrade Turned Into a Dump!

Belgrade is in chaos again, but not because of politics or the economy — it’s because of student protests that, according to the City Sanitation Company, have turned the city into an improvised dump! Yes, you read that right. While students march for their rights, behind them lie burnt and destroyed trash bins, piles of garbage scattered across the streets, and material damage estimated in the millions of dinars. The City Sanitation Company doesn’t hold back, calling this behavior vandalism and irresponsibility, pointing out that waste containers were violently moved and many parts of the city were defaced by the recklessness of the protests.

“This behavior is a direct attack on the property of all citizens and has nothing to do with the protest itself,” the company states. Their teams had to urgently intervene to restore Belgrade’s basic appearance and functionality, with damage estimates running into millions of dinars. Citizens are called upon to join institutions in insisting on preserving public order and property.

This isn’t the first time the city sanitation has struggled with the aftermath of protests, but the scale of destruction and irresponsibility raises a serious question: where is the line between the right to protest and respect for public good? While students fight for change, is it justified for the city to suffer millions in damages and for sanitation workers to deal daily with the consequences of recklessness?

If Belgrade was once a clean and orderly city, now it’s time to ask — have protests become an excuse for chaos and destruction? Or is this just another sign that society is losing control over its basic values? In any case, the City Sanitation Company is not giving up and thanks all citizens who have shown understanding and patience as the city slowly returns to normal.

What about you? Do you think the students went too far, or is this just the price of fighting for a better tomorrow? Drop a comment — maybe your word will change the course of this debate!
