Crisis of Values and Violence in Montenegro: How Did We Get Here?

Montenegro on the Brink of Moral Collapse: War Criminals as the Measure of Values?

Welcome to a country where war criminals are hailed as saints, and true values are lost in the fog of political games and revisionism. Montenegro, a nation with a rich history and antifascist heritage, is today facing a deep crisis of identity and values that once were the pillars of society.

War Criminals as Heroes?

While Christian values should symbolize love and solidarity, in Montenegro, the opposite is happening. The government and church are pushing war criminals as the measure of values, turning ordinary killers into holy figures. Is it possible that someone who claims to uphold Christian values goes around burning neighbors’ houses? Apparently yes, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

July 13 – Day of Uprising or Day of Revisionism?

The Day of Uprising, symbolizing resistance to fascism and the fight for freedom, is increasingly targeted by revisionist narratives. Attempts to diminish the importance of this date and portray it as an ideological legacy rather than a popular antifascist act only further tear society apart. Such tendencies threaten not only the truth about the past but also Montenegro’s ability to resist modern forms of violence and injustice.

Social and Political Fragmentation

Montenegrin society is sinking into deep social and political division. Socioeconomic stratification, identity fragmentation, and growing distrust among different groups fuel violence and aggression. The lack of police forces and resources worsens the security situation, culminating in the tragic massacre in Cetinje.

Political Amateurism and Manipulation

The government engages in spin and manipulation instead of addressing real problems. Fake images, misidentifications, and unprofessional police management further destabilize the situation. Media and political elites exploit the tragedy for their own ends, while citizens remain unprotected and unsafe.

Culture and Art as Beacons of Hope

Amid political chaos, Montenegro’s cultural scene shows there is still light. Premieres of domestic films, literary successes, and artistic initiatives demonstrate potential for a different, better Montenegro. But without clear strategy and support, culture too can become a victim of political interests.

What Next?

Montenegro stands at a crossroads. Will it continue down the path of division, violence, and revisionism, or find the strength to return to true values – freedom, solidarity, and justice? One thing is certain: without honest confrontation with the past and responsibility for the present, the future looks bleak.

If you’ve read this far, maybe you have your own opinion on who’s to blame and what should be done. Or maybe you think it’s just another political show? Drop a comment, share a sarcastic meme, or just chime in – let the voice of the people be heard!
