Dačić and the Police: Violence at Protests? No, Thanks!
Everyone knows protests are brewing in Belgrade, but Ivica Dačić, the Minister of Internal Affairs, won’t tolerate an inch of violence! He made it crystal clear: every act of violence will be stopped and punished. Police will be deployed all over the city to ensure stability and public order.
Dačić called on all protest participants to respect the law and avoid clashes with the police, not to attack state institutions or other people. “All state institutions will be protected,” he said, emphasizing that the police are ready to act professionally but only if forced.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also stressed that the state will intervene only if forced, meaning the police will remain restrained as long as they are not attacked or violence does not break out. Dačić added that police restraint is a sign of strength, not weakness.
