Dejan Đinović’s Detention Extended Over Suspected Murder Charges

Dejan Đinović’s detention has been extended until October 1st over suspicion of the brutal murder of Zoran Nikolov in Golubovci. The Supreme Court of Montenegro ruled the extension due to flight risk and to ensure the trial proceeds without interference. Đinović, 25, faces charges carrying a minimum sentence of ten years in prison, with the possibility of harsher punishment given the severity and manner of the crime. His detention was first ordered on April 3rd and has been extended multiple times, most recently on June 24th. Meanwhile, in a separate case, the trial of Slobodan Peković for war crimes against civilians has concluded its evidentiary phase, with the court rejecting the defense’s request for chemical hair testing. Closing arguments are scheduled for July 11th. Peković is accused of murder and rape during the war but denies all charges. These cases highlight the grim realities of serious criminal accusations and the challenges facing Montenegro’s justice system.
