Nine Attempts on His Life, Bullet in the Ribs, and a Cold-Blooded Comeback: Alibegović’s Unbreakable Saga
Nenad Alajbegović Alibeg, the former leader of the Partizan Zabranjeni fan group, has survived an astonishing nine assassination attempts! Yes, you read that right – NINE times someone fired at him, and he’s still standing like he’s made of steel.
The latest attack happened in Novi Beograd, on Narodnih Heroja street, where an unknown assailant fired several shots in his direction. Luckily, this time he wasn’t hit, but it’s far from the first time his life has been in danger.
Rajko Nedić, the chief editor of Kurir, who conducted an exclusive interview with Alibegović shortly after one of his earlier attacks, reveals that Alibegović has been targeted before but always managed to survive – whether lightly or seriously wounded. One of the most brutal attacks was in 2017 when he was hit by two bullets right outside his building. Still, he managed to reach a bus and then the emergency center, where his life was saved.
Though his past is filled with trials and connections to criminal groups, Alibegović has had no ties to fan groups for 15 years and currently works abroad. Yet, his past still haunts him – he was also targeted by members of the Vračar clan, who called him the “indestructible hyena.”
Nedić points out that throughout all these attacks, Alibegović showed incredible composure and cold-bloodedness. Even after sitting in a hospital bed, he once went straight to a café and ordered coffee, irritating the waiter because there was no food that day.
This saga of survival and indestructibility sheds light on the dark streets of Belgrade, where violence and crime still reign, and justice often lags behind. Will the prosecution finally act and put an end to these attacks? Or will Alibegović continue to be a target in this endless war?
