New Veterans’ Home Foundation Laid in Kruševac – A Real Game Changer or Just Another Empty Promise?
On July 1st, a foundation stone was ceremoniously laid for the construction of a new Veterans’ Home in Kruševac, on the site of a former art studio on Majke Jugovića street. This new building will be multifunctional and tailored to the needs of veterans’ organizations and associations of disabled persons in the Kruševac area.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of veterans’ organizations, the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army General Milan Mojsilović, the president of SUBNOR Kruševac Bojan Tomić, and prominent state officials such as Bratislav Gašronić and Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski.
This project is of great importance to the local community as it will finally provide adequate space for the work and gathering of veterans, who until now have been burdened by the lack of suitable facilities. The city of Kruševac has already financed other infrastructure projects, such as the construction of a children’s playground and an industrial-technological park, showing a serious approach to the city’s development.
However, the question remains – will this home truly be functional and meet the expectations of veterans, or will it end up as just another symbolic project without real impact? Veterans’ organizations have waited decades for such a space, and now is the chance to prove that the state and local government truly care about their heroes.
Meanwhile, other important projects continue in Kruševac, including a 44 million euro gasification program that will further improve citizens’ lives. Works on the eastern bypass and the industrial-technological park are also underway, indicating a broader picture of the city’s development.
It remains to be seen how this new Veterans’ Home will fit into all these changes and whether it will truly become a place veterans proudly call their home.
