In the heart of mountainous Šavnik, within the authentic setting of Pekić House, the exhibition of academic painter Dragan Karadžić titled “Touches of Duration” has opened. This cultural event is not just another exhibition – it’s a vibrant explosion of colors, emotions, and deep reflections on Montenegrin identity, woven into the blue tones of Karadžić’s works.
The exhibition was ceremoniously opened by parliamentarian Aleksandra Vuković Kuč, who emphasized that Karadžić’s art represents a Mediterranean manifesto, a blue expression of all shades of Montenegrin spirit. The color blue, she said, is not just a color on canvas but a symbol of longing and infinity, a deep spirit that runs through every piece by this artist.
The mayor of Šavnik, Jugoslav Jakić, highlighted the importance of such events for small communities. “Šavnik is becoming a meeting point of contemporary art and deep local roots,” Jakić said, reminding that Karadžić has built his artistic path over decades, exhibiting in prestigious galleries in Paris, Vienna, Rome, Washington, Moscow, and Podgorica. Now, as he said, his paintings are “the heart of Šavnik.”
The exhibition “Touches of Duration” includes carefully selected works from various creative cycles, arranged in harmony with the authentic space of the former home of one of Montenegro’s greatest writers, Miodrag Pekić. This art installation invites quiet contemplation, deep emotional reaction, and dialogue with nature, silence, and the heritage of the place.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until July 23, offering everyone a chance to dive into the blue world of Karadžić’s works and feel the power of duration and touch with art that knows no boundaries.
