A huge drama unfolded today in Pančevo’s Narodna Bašta when a massive tree branch snapped and fell just meters away from children, including a baby! Yes, you read that right — the branch fell literally right in front of the kids, and if it weren’t for the quick reflexes of one father, this could have ended in tragedy. The mother was holding the baby, and the husband heard the crack and pulled them aside just in time. “We dodged it by a hair, a meter or two! I can’t even imagine what would have happened if a child had been underneath,” wrote a concerned local woman who witnessed the incident.
But that’s not all! This woman expressed deep concern about the condition of the trees in Narodna Bašta and plans to notify the city’s public greenery service, JKP Zelenilo, urging an urgent inspection of all trees in the park. Because if something like this can happen in the city center, where children and families gather, what else is waiting to happen? Will anyone finally take responsibility and prevent similar dangers?
This isn’t just a story about one branch. It’s a wake-up call for all of us! How many trees in our parks and streets are waiting to snap and endanger lives? Has neglect of our greenery become a public safety hazard?
Imagine this — a place where children should play and enjoy themselves turns into a potential death trap! Are we going to wait for a tragedy before something changes?
If you’ve seen or experienced similar situations, or have something to say about the state of our parks, jump into the conversation. Maybe your story will spark a wave of change. Because the safety of children and all citizens cannot be put on hold!
While we wait for the authorities to act, maybe it’s time for all of us to take a closer look around and ask ourselves — how safe is the place we live in? And isn’t it time we start caring for our parks as more than just decoration, but as our responsibility?
