Drina Regatta 2024: Bajina Bašta Gears Up for the Summer Spectacle!
Get ready, river lovers and party animals! From July 14 to 20, 2024, Bajina Bašta will become the epicenter of summer madness in Serbia! The 31st Drina Regatta is here, an event that annually gathers tens of thousands of visitors craving music, nature, and unforgettable experiences.
A Week Packed with Events and Fun The festivities kick off on Monday, July 14, when the main street in downtown Bajina Bašta will come alive with the “Bazar” — a festival of flavors and crafts lasting the entire week. The opening night will be marked by a performance from regional music star Kaliopi, whose emotional hits set the perfect tone for this grand summer celebration.
The next day, Tuesday, features a concert by Željko Šašić, promising an evening full of rhythm and good vibes. Wednesday is reserved for the little ones, with workshops and competitions as part of the children’s program “Crazy Summer Dance,” followed by the first part of the popular Mashup Festival featuring electronic music artists like Pessto, Redhedi, and Steve Drop.
Thursday brings the traditional fish stew cooking competition at Perućac, one of the region’s most beautiful natural gems. Kids will enjoy the adventurous play “Treasure Hunt,” while the evening Mashup Festival welcomes performers like Fabio Freire and the group Yugoton Galluxy, blending nostalgia with contemporary sounds.
Friday starts off calmer with street animations, then heats up with performances by the band “No Comment” and the evening’s star, Haris Džinović, whose timeless hits will warm the crowd late into the night.
The Crown Jewel: The Grand Drina Regatta The biggest event, as every year, is the grand Drina Regatta on Saturday, July 19. Participants’ boats will be registered at 10:30 AM at Perućac, from where the traditional Rogačica river descent begins at 11 AM. The regatta symbolizes summer and camaraderie, with participants from across the country and region enjoying the river’s charms, music, and nature.
The evening features a unique concert by the Zrenjanin Philharmonic with the “Guns N’ Roses Symphonic Show,” a fusion of classical music and rock legends. The night ends with a tribute concert to “Bijelo Dugme” performed by the band Pediculis Pubis, honoring the great icons of the Yugoslav rock scene.
Bazar and Safety Throughout the week, the “Bazar” will be a meeting place for artisans, artists, and local producers, offering authentic products and homemade flavors. Organizers promise top-level safety and invite everyone to bring a smile and good vibes.
