Drinking Water in Arilje: Overnight Shutoffs and Threat of Emergency Situation!
Imagine waking up to no drinking water overnight! In Arilje, a municipality in the Zlatibor district, this nightmare is reality. Due to drought and scorching heat, water consumption has skyrocketed, forcing the public utility company Zelen Arilje to shut off reservoirs and cut water supply in four settlements – Vrane, Grdovići, Virovo, and Lopaš – from 10 PM to 6 AM.
Who’s hit hardest? The most affected are the higher altitude settlements where reservoir R2 supplies parts of Raškove Bare, Bogojevići, Latvica, Stupčevići, Dragojevac, Mirosaljci, and Trešnjevica. These areas will have no water from 10 PM to 6 AM, and again from 9 AM to 8 PM, with water released during breaks.
What if this doesn’t work? Predrag Maslar, head of the Emergency Situation Headquarters, warns that if these measures fail, a state of emergency will be declared, and water restrictions will extend to the entire municipality. Brace yourselves for even bigger headaches!
Fighting drought and consumption Zelen Arilje and relevant inspections are doing everything to curb unnecessary water use. But is it enough? Drought and extreme heat don’t discriminate, and people keep using water like it’s unlimited.
What does this mean for residents? Imagine no water for drinking, cooking, or hygiene – especially at night! This isn’t just an inconvenience; it’s a serious problem that can threaten health and safety.
Bottom line Arilje is on the brink of disaster due to water shortages. Will authorities manage to prevent an emergency, or will problems pile up? One thing’s clear – it’s time everyone realizes how precious water is and uses it wisely.
