Drought on Suva Planina: Livestock Thirsty, Tankers to the Rescue

Suva Planina is burning from drought, and livestock are dying of thirst! Yes, you read that right. Around 1,000 cows and horses in this area are literally on the brink of life because they don’t have enough drinking water. But don’t worry, heroes from the Agricultural Expert Service Niš and local authorities have stepped up and decided to send four tankers of drinking water every day for the next 15 days. Yes, four huge tankers full of water, every single day, just to save the livestock from certain doom.

The director of PSSS Niš, Srećko Vukašinović, says this is just the beginning and that the policy of helping farmers will continue until the results are visible and tangible. What about the dry land and pastures? Well, Suva Planina has already become synonymous with drought, and farmers are struggling to keep their animals alive.

This situation is not just a local problem but a warning for the whole country. Climate change and extreme weather conditions are already hitting agriculture hard, and if nothing is done, we could face even bigger disasters.

Just imagine — four tankers a day, for 15 days, just to save the livestock. And what happens after? Will the government have a plan for a long-term solution, or will we keep fighting these crises as they come?
