Dubrovnik Finally Gets a Highway: The Infrastructure Breakthrough That Changes Everything

Alright folks, are you ready for what’s finally happening in Dubrovnik? After years of waiting and endless promises, the highway to Southern Dalmatia is entering its final phase! Yes, you read that right – next week we expect the opening of bids for the first two subsections. This new route won’t just shorten the trip to Dubrovnik; it will connect the entire Dubrovnik-Neretva County to the border with Montenegro. Sounds like a dream, but it’s a reality that will open doors to increased traffic of people and goods towards the Montenegrin coast.

Croatia’s Deputy Prime Minister Istran Branko Bačić visited Dubrovnik and talked with local officials about infrastructure projects, especially those related to traffic and housing for displaced tenants. Yes, the long-standing housing problem for those in need is finally being addressed! State real estate has announced a public call for the renovation of about ten apartments, and the city plans to build new residential buildings.

But wait, there’s more! There’s also a plan to build a kindergarten in Komolac, and Mayor Franković emphasized that the main project is already prepared, and the government has allocated part of the land parcels. The only thing left is to resolve the remaining parcels to get the building permit.

While the highway construction is in full swing, discussions are ongoing about faster connections to Dubrovnik airport, including the possibility of alternative routes and bypasses. All this sounds like life in this part of Croatia is about to change dramatically.

Finally, Bačić met with Dubrovnik’s bishop Rok Glasnović, where they agreed on donating property to the diocese to house young families, as part of a plan to revitalize the old part of the city.

So, dear readers, if you thought Dubrovnik would remain hard to reach and plagued with housing problems forever, think again! This infrastructure breakthrough is here to change the game. What do you think about these projects? Will they really bring change, or is this just another fairy tale? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s optimistic and who’s skeptical!
