Imagine being at a music festival, but what you’re watching isn’t just a concert or a play. It’s something completely new, breaking all the known boundaries! Welcome to “Emergency Exit” — a multidisciplinary performance set to open this year’s Exit Festival in Novi Sad on July 10th. This project isn’t just an art event; it’s a revolution in performance art, created in collaboration with the Spanish theater troupe La Fura dels Baus, famous for their spectacular and innovative large-scale shows.
“Emergency Exit” is not a concert, not a theater play, not a dance, nor a visual spectacle. It’s something else entirely — a fusion of sound, movement, image, and raw human energy that pulls the audience right into the heart of the event. There’s no fourth wall, no safe distance — only one way forward. The performance explores themes of human connection with nature, coexistence, and transformation, taking us through chaos, resistance, and the beauty of collective awakening.
La Fura dels Baus brings their signature style of pushing artistic boundaries, and the performance will involve 20 local and regional artists, which is one of the project’s key aspects. The music is composed by Satori, while the visual segment is shaped by Eyesberga and director José Vaaliña, who use eco-friendly, open-source artificial intelligence to capture the essence of nature and bring it to life in real time.
This performance is not just an art event but a call to action — all visitors, performers, festival workers, sponsors, and volunteers will be invited to sign a manifesto to save the planet, which will develop throughout the project. After its world premiere at Exit Festival, “Emergency Exit” will be performed on July 17th at the Boom Festival in Portugal, and next year it will continue its journey to the Sea Star Festival in Umag and in Barcelona.
Think you’ve seen it all at festivals? Think again! “Emergency Exit” offers something that will make you rethink what art is and how we experience it. Get ready for an experience you don’t just watch but live — and maybe, just maybe, it will change how you see the world around you. And if you think this is just another art performance, remember — it’s a call to wake up, to act, to save the planet. So, what are you waiting for? Ready to take the “Emergency Exit”? Or will you stay stuck in old patterns?
Feel free to share your thoughts, tell us if you’re into these artistic experiments or think it’s all too complicated for a festival. Let the debate begin!
