Belgrade’s emergency services are working overtime! On the night of July 9th alone, teams responded to two traffic accidents that left three people with minor injuries. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg – a total of 22 teams were on duty, handling 77 interventions, 22 of which happened in public places. Besides traffic accidents, the emergency crews are swamped with cases involving intoxicated individuals. Many were rushed to the VMA toxicology department for detox. Asthmatics, chronic psychiatric patients, hypertensives, and cardiology patients also frequently called for help. The night in Belgrade was anything but calm, and the emergency services are stretched to their limits. Who’s thinking about the strain this puts on the healthcare system? With calls rising, the big question is – what’s next? Will Belgrade become a city where emergency services are constantly on the brink of collapse? Got a wild emergency room story or ever found yourself in one of these chaotic situations? Drop a comment and let’s see if we can laugh or maybe even find a solution together!
