Fires on Kosovo and Metohija: Families Left Homeless, and the State Remains Silent!
Does anyone in Serbia actually care about the people in Kosovo and Metohija? The Raško-Prizren Eparchy has raised its voice, calling on all kind-hearted people, humanitarian organizations, and church communities to help families who have recently lost their homes due to devastating fires. Four family houses in the returnee village of Osojane were destroyed, and the entire community is in big trouble as even the wheat ready for harvest was burned.
This is not just a natural disaster but a consequence of negligence and outdated electrical infrastructure, which, according to locals, directly contributed to the outbreak of the fires. Electric poles are in catastrophic condition – crooked, held only by wires, posing a constant danger to people and property.
Families who, after years of war and hard rebuilding, finally managed to build their homes, are now left homeless again. The Eparchy has called on the authorities to urgently respond and repair this disaster, but also to seriously address the causes, as it is clear that the lack of infrastructure maintenance led to this tragedy.
The villagers of Osojane, together with the nuns of the Gorioč Monastery, risked their lives to save surrounding houses, but the damage is enormous. This is yet another proof of how neglected the people in Kosovo and Metohija are and how little attention they receive.
If you care about the fate of these people, maybe it’s time to ask yourself – where is the state? Where are those who are supposed to protect and help? And you, dear readers, what do you think about this situation? Is this just another story about neglected people, or will we finally start caring about those who need help the most? Drop a comment, share your opinion, or just say – is this the Serbia we want?
