EPS has decided to change the payment reference numbers for households in Belgrade starting from June. Yes, you read that right — a new reference number every month! The last four digits of the reference number now represent the year and month of the billing period, so for example, the June bill will have a reference ending with 2506. This change is part of the digitalization process of services, and EPS boasts that about 50,000 users have already switched to electronic bills. Why does this matter? Because those who opt for electronic bills get a discount of 50 dinars every month.
But wait, it’s not all that simple! The change of reference numbers for other regions of Serbia was already implemented from January, and now it’s Belgrade’s turn. EPS claims that the e-bill arrives immediately after it is generated, no waiting, saves paper, and protects the environment. Also, citizens can track their bills via the EPS portal or app.
Is this really a step towards modernization or just another hassle for consumers? Imagine having to adjust to a new payment reference number every month. While the idea is to make tracking easier and digitalize the process, many will wonder if this is just another way to confuse users and potentially cause payment errors.
EPS, thanks for the digitalization, but maybe next time send us a user manual too, huh? And you, dear readers, what do you think about these changes? Have you already switched to electronic bills or are you still loyal to the good old paper? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s for and who’s against this digital revolution!
