POLITICAL INTERFERENCE IN THE JUDICIARY? NO, THANK YOU!
Have you heard about the latest scandal in Kosovo? The ambassadors of the European Union and Germany have publicly condemned the Kosovo government’s reaction to the Supreme Court’s decision! Yes, you read that right – political interference in the judiciary has been declared unacceptable!
What happened? Kosovo’s Supreme Court ruled that members of parliament cannot simultaneously hold government positions. This decision annulled an administrative instruction signed by Finance Minister Hekuran Murati. The government reacted, but not in the way it should have – their reaction was deemed arbitrary and politically motivated.
Ambassadors don’t hold back The head of the EU office in Pristina, Aivo Orav, called the government’s reaction “unacceptable political interference in the judiciary.” The German ambassador, Jorn Rohde, shares the same view, emphasizing that such attacks on judges and interference in the judiciary are absolutely unacceptable, especially in such a difficult political situation.
Why does this matter? Because judicial independence is the cornerstone of any democratic state! When politicians try to influence judges, it’s not just Kosovo’s problem; it’s an issue that can undermine citizens’ trust in justice and the law.
What’s next? The EU and German ambassadors clearly state that such decisions must be based on law, not political pressure or personal interests. Will the government listen? Or will it keep playing with fire?
Conclusion If you think the judiciary is just another institution, think again. This is a fight for justice, for the law, for Kosovo’s future. And if you have your own opinion on this, feel free to share it – maybe your voice can change something!
After all, who doesn’t love a good political scandal?
This is just the beginning, stay tuned for more news that will make you wonder – where is the world heading?
