EU is strong, can protect its trade interests, says Scholz.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that Europe is strong enough to defend its interests in trade negotiations with the United States, following a meeting with EU leaders. Scholz emphasized the importance of the EU acting independently and praised Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for her relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding tariffs on Mexican products. Trump agreed to delay the tariffs for a month after discussions with Sheinbaum. Tariffs on imports from Canada are expected to take effect at midnight on Tuesday.
