The ECB chose famous Europeans for new euro notes.

The European Central Bank (ECB) has selected themes for a new series of euro banknotes that will feature notable Europeans and artistic themes. The themes relate to “European Culture: Shared Cultural Spaces” and “Rivers and Birds: Diversity Means Resilience.” The selection is the result of proposals from experts and 365,000 EU citizens. Figures such as Maria Callas, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Marie Curie are expected to appear on different denominations. Additionally, cultural and natural themes will be depicted on the back of the banknotes. ECB
