Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of Serbia and Proposed Laws

The President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, has convened the fifth extraordinary session of the 14th convocation of the National Assembly, scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, with 46 agenda items. Among them are proposed laws on the establishment of an alimentary fund, which will allow the state to pay child support in cases where former spouses fail to do so, as well as amendments to laws on subsidizing part of the interest rates to support young people in buying their first home, electronic media, public media services, air protection, the central register of real owners, and borrowing by the Republic of Serbia to finance infrastructure projects such as the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad highway. This session reflects the state’s active role in addressing social and economic issues and improving the legislative framework.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning outlets emphasize the social welfare aspects of the session, particularly the establishment of the alimentary fund to protect women and children from non-paying ex-spouses. They highlight the state’s role in social justice and support for vulnerable groups, as well as environmental protection laws on the agenda.

Center: Centrist sources report the session in a balanced manner, focusing on the legislative process and the variety of laws proposed, including economic measures like subsidized loans for young homebuyers and infrastructure financing. They present the session as a routine but important step in governance and policy-making.

Right: Right-leaning media stress the government’s commitment to economic development and infrastructure projects, such as highway construction and financial guarantees for banks. They also highlight the state’s firm stance on enforcing child support payments and maintaining public order through legislation.
