Douv Steyn, the founder of a company that revolutionized the insurance industry, has passed away at the age of 72. Known as a pioneer in selling vehicle insurance over the phone, Steyn built a large-scale global business in seven countries. He founded “Steyn’s Insurance Brokers” in 1975 in Johannesburg, recognizing the potential of monthly policies for cars and home contents, which he promoted with flyers. After returning from the USA to South Africa in 1985, he established “Auto&General” insurance.
