Fire Hell Near Marseille: Blaze Still Devours Southern France!

Ready for a fiery apocalypse? Because that’s exactly what’s happening in France! A fire that broke out Tuesday morning in Penmirabou, near Marseille, is still raging. Yes, you read that right – it’s still burning! Around 110 people have been lightly injured, including 9 brave firefighters and 22 police officers battling the flames.

The fire spread rapidly with a northern wind, with flames shooting several meters high. Marseille, France’s second-largest city, is now at the heart of this inferno. Firefighters have deployed over 90 personnel and even 9 Canadair planes to fight the blaze.

The situation is so severe that Marseille Provence Airport, the fourth largest in France, had to suspend operations due to a massive smoke cloud. Traffic is disrupted, and rail services are partially halted.

Local officials warn the terrain is extremely challenging, and investigations into the fire’s cause are ongoing. Although the fire’s intensity has decreased, it remains uncontained, with risks of reignition.

French President Emmanuel Macron, currently on a state visit to the UK, expressed support for firefighters and urged residents to follow safety instructions. “My thoughts are with the injured and all residents,” he wrote on social media.

This fire isn’t alone – a large blaze also erupted near Narbonne, affecting 2 hectares of forest, with about 1000 firefighters involved in containment.

Is this just a natural disaster or a sign that something serious is happening to our planet? While firefighters heroically battle the flames, the rest of us can only watch and wonder – what’s next?
