Fire in Voždovac and Knife Attack in Novi Pazar: Is Public Safety at an All Time Low?

Just when you think the day will be ordinary, a fire breaks out in a residential building in Voždovac at 5:32 AM, and you immediately realize public safety is nowhere near where it should be. A 28-year-old man, who bravely tried to put out the fire, ended up with severe burns on his face and hands, rushed to the emergency center. Is this heroism or a desperate attempt to save a life in a system that fails to protect its citizens? Firefighters battled the blaze with 20 men and five vehicles, but the question remains – how many more such situations are waiting to explode?

While we fight the fire, another horror unfolds in Novi Pazar. Two brothers, working in an auto repair shop, were attacked with a knife by a neighbor! Yes, you read that right – the neighbor stormed out of his apartment wielding a knife, attacking them over a verbal dispute about spraying vehicles. The brothers suffered minor injuries, but the shock and fear remain. How is it possible that people can’t even feel safe at their workplace? The police responded, but the question is how much of this is just the tip of the iceberg of violence spreading through the streets.

These two events are not isolated incidents but a wake-up call. Is our state ready to protect its citizens? Will we allow heroes like the young man from Voždovac to become victims of the system, and workers in Novi Pazar to fight for their lives while doing their jobs?

If you think this is an exaggeration, think again. Every day brings new news of violence, accidents, and injustice. Maybe it’s time to ask – where has safety gone? What do you think about these events? Is this just the beginning, or will we soon witness even worse scenes? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just say – is this the country we want?

Because while we wait for answers, life goes on, and dangers lurk around every corner.
