In Montenegro, due to the constant rise in apartment prices, the formation of a state housing fund is proposed as a solution to the housing issue, which is becoming almost unsolvable for the majority of citizens. The General Secretary of the civic movement URA, Mile Radovanic, points out that the average price per square meter in Podgorica and the coast exceeds 2,000 euros, making it difficult to buy a first home, especially for young people and vulnerable groups. The fund would allow the purchase of apartments at construction cost, significantly cheaper than market prices. The idea is to be non-partisan and systematically address this problem. This initiative has not yet had the support of the parliamentary majority but will be re-submitted to the Parliament of Montenegro.
