In Bunnik, in the Dutch province of Utrecht, a treasure consisting of 404 silver and gold coins of British and Roman origin has been discovered. The oldest coins date back to around 200 BC. It is believed that the treasure belonged to a Roman centurion as war booty during the conquest of Britain, and the value of the coins corresponds to almost an 11-year salary of a Roman soldier. The treasure was found buried at a depth of about 30 cm in the ground, inside a decayed cloth or leather bag.
