FPN Plenum Ends Total Faculty Blockade: End of Chaos or Just a Pause?

Looks like the drama at the Faculty of Political Sciences (FPN) just got a new twist! After nearly a month of a total blockade of the faculty building, the student plenum made a decision that shocked many – to end the total blockade! Yes, you read that right. Out of 55 attendees, a whopping 44 voted to end the blockade, meaning professors and other staff can now enter the building again. But don’t pop the champagne just yet – the blockade continues, just in a different form.

It all started on June 10th, when FPN students initiated a total blockade in response to the decision to introduce online classes. Online classes! In 2024, when the whole world has already embraced digital learning, students decided this was a reason for total chaos.

This plenum decision comes at a time when almost all faculties in Serbia have already adopted plans to make up for lost classes and continue teaching. Even city cleaning services are working three shifts to deal with the aftermath of storms and a state of emergency in Belgrade. And the students? They’re sticking to their guns but have decided to change tactics.

What’s fascinating is how this conflict has become a symbol of a broader problem in education and society. Is blocking a faculty the right way to express dissatisfaction? Or is it just a waste of time and energy?

Either way, the situation at FPN is far from resolved, and we’ll keep watching how this saga unfolds. Got thoughts on this mess? Drop a comment or a joke – maybe your take will be the one to break this endless loop!
