Vincent Lemark Barel from Georgia has been sentenced to 475 years in prison for organizing dog fights and animal abuse, including the seizure of 107 dogs from his property. This is the longest sentence related to dog fighting in history, according to special prosecutor Jessica K. Rock. The investigation began after a delivery person reported to authorities that dogs on Barel’s property were chained. During the search, dogs in poor condition and evidence of organizing dog fights were found. Barel was convicted on 93 counts.
