Opposition leader Nika Melia arrested in Georgia protest.

Georgian opposition leader Nika Melia was arrested along with several demonstrators as thousands of people blocked a highway near Tbilisi, demanding new parliamentary elections. Among those arrested was former Tbilisi mayor, Giorgi Ugulava. The protest was secured by a large number of police officers, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned that blocking the highway is a criminal offense. Georgians have been gathering every night since November after the ruling party, Georgian Dream, announced the suspension of accession talks.
