Asteroid 2024 IR4, measuring 100 meters in width, has a 1.3% chance of impacting Earth on December 22, 2032. Global defense procedures have been initiated for the first time due to this asteroid, which was spotted in Chile late last year. On the Torino Scale, the asteroid is ranked third due to the potential for “localized destruction.” Astronomers plan to conduct more detailed observations to determine its trajectory more accurately. If the threat is not ruled out, the asteroid will remain on risk lists until the next assessment.
Asteroid might hit Earth in 2032, but it’s unlikely.
