Serbia’s Mountain Rescue Service Opens Recruitment: Ready for Adventure or Endurance?

Serbia’s Mountain Rescue Service Wants New Heroes – Are You Ready?

Think mountain rescue is just for the brave? Think again! Serbia’s Mountain Rescue Service (GSS) has just opened recruitment for new members. But this isn’t your average sign-up – it’s a challenge for those who love nature, adventure, and want to help others in trouble.

Who can apply? Any adult citizen of Serbia can apply from July 7 to August 10. But don’t think it’s just a formality. After applications close, a tough selection and testing phase will take place at at least eight locations across the country. In Belgrade, testing will last four days due to the high number of candidates.

What’s the test like? The second round is no joke – candidates must prove strength and endurance through four exercises: pull-ups on a bar, squats, push-ups, and sit-ups, followed by a 1200-meter run. Each exercise has strict rules, and breaks are minimal. Fail, and you’ll get an email saying you didn’t make it – no second chances.

Costs and training Training isn’t free – candidates pay part of the costs, totaling 60 dinars in three installments, with no refunds. Those who successfully complete training become apprentices and official GSS members.

Why does it matter? GSS is often on the front lines when nature shows its teeth – like when rescuing people trapped in snowstorms. This service isn’t just for athletes or adventurers, but for those who want to be part of something bigger and help in crises.

Bottom line If you love nature, have the fitness, and want to be part of the elite saving lives, this is your chance. But remember – it’s not for everyone. Apply, test your limits, and maybe you’ll be the next member of Serbia’s Mountain Rescue Service.

So, are you ready to put down the keyboard and show what you’ve got? Or will you just comment on how tough it is? Join the conversation – maybe your story will inspire someone else!
