Gračanica Under Serbian Tricolors: Vidovdan as a Symbol of Resistance and Faith

Vidovdan in Gračanica is not just another date on the calendar. It’s the day when the Serbian people in the heart of Kosovo and Metohija show they won’t back down! Despite threats from Priština institutions and attempts to ban Serbian national symbols, Serbian tricolors waved proudly through the main streets of Gračanica, around the monastery, and on the vehicles of pilgrims.

Early in the morning, Gračanica was decorated with Serbian flags, a clear sign that the Serbian people here refuse to give up their history and identity. Vidovdan, the most important date in the spiritual, historical, and national consciousness of Serbs, was marked with prayer and unity. The holy liturgy began at 9 a.m. in the Gračanica monastery, with participation from several archbishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church and a large number of believers from Serbian enclaves, displaced persons, and the diaspora.

At 1 p.m., a memorial service was held at Gazimestan for the Kosovo heroes, led by the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, Joanikije, along with several bishops and priests. This event was not just a religious ceremony but a strong political and national statement — to remember the sacrifice and reject the ban on Serbian symbols in these lands.

Priština institutions, led by the self-proclaimed Prime Minister Kurti, tried to ban the Serbian tricolors and suppress the Vidovdan celebrations through repression. But as we see, the Serbian people in Gračanica and beyond did not give in. The tricolors flew as a symbol of resistance and faith, a reminder that Kosovo is the heart of Serbian history and culture.

This Vidovdan in Gračanica is more than just a commemoration — it’s a message to the world that the Serbian people live here, remember, and will not surrender. If you think this is just another celebration, think again. Real history is being written here, firsthand, with tricolors that cannot be extinguished.
