When you think of theater, what comes to mind? A boring play? Not in Budva! Grad Teatar Budva decided that the play “Treasure Island” would be more than just an artistic event — it’s a heartwarming charity act worth applauding. All proceeds from ticket sales for the premiere, which wowed audiences last night, will be donated to a child in Budva who urgently needs medical treatment.
Directed by Kokan Mladenović, the play is based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. Produced by Grad Teatar Budva and the Small Theater “Duško Radović” from Belgrade, this production is a real treat for theater lovers. The cast includes Olivera Bacić Dragićević, Marijana Vićentijević Badovinac, Miloš Samolov, and many others.
The premiere was last night, with encore performances scheduled for tonight and tomorrow at 9 PM on the stage between the churches. Missed it? Don’t worry — the play will have its Belgrade premiere on September 19.
This move by Grad Teatar Budva shows that art can and should be a bridge to humanity. In a world full of bad news, initiatives like this restore faith in people and their willingness to help.
